Any comments on tankless water heaters?

by Water Heaters on July 19, 2010

We have a traditional electric water heater but with 4 people in the house and all showering in the morning it leaves the last person with luke warm water (2nd shower – teenager). They have come down in price and just wondering what the pros and cons are.

I love the idea of them. As I understand, they are supposed to be a lot more efficient, so you will save on your electric bill. I will probably switch if I ever have a problem with my water heater.

This is a great solution to your situation. As a bonus you will save on your electricity bills. You can also get gas fired models if that is your preference.

They also have a longer life-span than conventional water heaters. This link contains an excellent article on tankless heaters.

They are a great money saver. You will save on your electric bill every month. Depending on what type of heating system you have it can be combined into one unit. For more info check out my source.

they work really well. my nieghbor removed two 80 gallon propane water heaters from his milk barn and replaced them with one of the tankless heaters and now he never runs out of hot water anf it cut his propane usage way down. it payed for it’s self in less than 3 months. it will take longer to recoupe the saving in you home but I would think it could be done in as little as a year

I don’t see how one could pay for itself so quickly as one guy said, mine, with installation was about $1700. Still I like it for giving all the hot water you can possibly need. Make sure you get a brand that you can heat up to 140F. Some only go to 120F and that’s not really that hot. Don’t forget either to take advantage of the income tax savings of $300 next year.

The tankless water heaters are both space savers, and energy savers. You will have to look in to the model that will best suit your needs, and make sure that you check for the temperature, cause some of them are limited to the tempreture, you need one that will go higher than 120 degrees.
