Depends if you want hot shower in the morning or you shower at night. I recommend showering at night and then turn it off to save gas. It also conserves energy and you have no worries!
there is no such thing as a dumb question! anyway, my propane water heater is on 24/7
It’s safe to leave it on. Turning it off to save gas only works if it’s off for a long time.
