I need help with my extreme dry skin. Ideas?

I have such extreme dry skin in the winter. I have tried lots of things. I bought Aveeno Colloidal Oil (oatmeal oil) for in the shower, I bought Aveena Anti-Itch lotion with Cooling Menthol. Neither are doing enough. I have a sugar scrub which makes my skin soft and I thought it might help with exfoliating, because maybe that was the problem, but it hasn’t helped.

I am so itchy, I scratch my legs and arms constantly, even my stomach itches. The only things that don’t itch are my face, arms, back, and feet. Everything else is so itchy and I just can’t stop. I scratch and scratch. I have red marks all over my legs (especially my thighs and shins), red bumps form from all the scratching. Currently I have deeper scratches on my knees from it being so bad I just kept going even when I broke the skin and started to bleed. And then my skin just burns and it feels even worse. There’s no relief!

I need some advice, is there any lotion or cream or ANY product I can try that will help? A friend suggested Gold Bond Medicated lotion but I’m just not sure. That Aveeno stuff was like and its not even half gone (I bought it last year). I just don’t want to needlessly spend money if there’s a proven to work product out there. Or at least one that several people have tried and found relief. I need opinions and very few people I know have this dry of skin.

My next step would be to go see my doctor, except I can’t imagine they’ll have much help for me. I’m not taking any new meds, nothing has changed when it comes to laundry or other soaps. I’m trying to take a shower every other day instead of daily in hopes that would help. I’m using warm not hot water. I am cold almost all the time, and the heater makes the air dry, but I can’t imagine that is doing this extreme of a job on my skin.

I would appreciate any suggestions of products, commercial or natural, your experience with them and the Pros and Cons, and then also a link to the product so I can read about them too.

Mineral Oil , Hydrogenated Styrene/Butadiene Copolymer , Brazil Nut Seed Oil (- Bertholletia Excelsa) , Sweet Almond Oil (- Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis) , Fragrance

Lists Mineral Oil as the number 1 ingredient. Didn’t you say to completely avoid that? That is the one you mentioned right?

And I’m working on the more water. I try to take a daily vitamin which includes A, C, and E. I eat plenty of fruits and veggies too.

What do you think about the reviewers saying its really greasy and uncomfortable during the day? Do you not have that problem?
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on Vaseline Clinical Therapy lotion?

Has anyone experienced any problems with a Rheem or GE Smart Water natural gas hot water heater?

Home Depot sells them as GE Smart Water units, but they are manufactured and serviced by Rheem Manufacturing.
I should point out that the problem has been ongoing since it was installed less than a year ago. Rheem has sent a plumbing contractor out four times. Insufficient natural gas w.c. has been ruled out. Dip tube is not missing and is not damaged. The thermostat control unit has been replaced TWICE. Yesterday, the burner assembly, and all its components, was replaced. The plumbing contractor pointed to the fact that the original burner’s flame appeared as if it were pointing upward and gripping something when it should look like the palm of someone holding a basket ball. The "new" burner looked fine when the plumber left. The next day, though, that "curled in" flame was back.

What does thermal cut off mean as a feature of water heater tank storage?

I’m not allergic to anything. Nothing at all has changed in my house to cause this. I have been living here itch free first, my entire life, and then for the past 10 months I have been here I’ve never had a problem.

Its not meningitis, that doesn’t even answer any of my question. I never said anything that could be connected to that.

I don’t have blisters and I’m not hot and this is occurring. Like I said, I have DRY SKIN and its causing crazy itching! I just want to know the best lotion or oil or cream for dry skin and that would help stop the itching.

There is a large flame and everything had been working well, but lately we can only get in one hot shower.
Shower head is new in one bathroom, but water is cold in every faucet. I turned it up, and within 4 hours the water is very hot, but still doesn’t last long. It is insulated, but we do live in Minnesota and it is just now getting very cold outside. Thanks to everyone for your answers.

I LOVE my pets and they are everything to me BUT sometimes I sit and wonder if there life would be better if i never came along. I have a 1 and a half year old beagle x pug mix. He gets 2 walks a day and I play ball with him in the living room. He sleeps on the couch and bed and gets fed twice a day and gets 3 milk bones a day HOWEVER he is poorly trained and I feel like I am failing him. He runs out the door and wont let me catch him. He jumps on people at the door and barks at EVERYTHING. I am surprised he doesn’t bark at his own shadow! I bought him a training harness for walks and I bought him a training collor for his barking. I want to take him to the trainers this summer. He is NOT fixed but my mom never gets around to it(I am 16). We have had him a year and he has only been to the vets 3 times and I dont feel like thats enough. When I tell my mom he needs to go she says she will make a appointment but she never gets to it.

I also have a cat. We have had her 9 years. I love her alot. She has 2 kitty towers and a cardboard boxs she loves to hid in HOWEVER I feel like she doesnt get enough attention. I only pet her when she comes to me which isnt very often. Somedays I dont even see her:( She sleeps with my mom every night. This is the worst part. She hasnt been to the vets in 3 years! She only goes for her shots and never check ups. When I tell my mom about the appointments she forgets to call. She is spayed.

I also have 2 turtles. They are res. One is the size of a quarter and one is the size of a 50 cent peice.They share a 20 gallon long tank. They have a 40 gallon filter. They have the needed lights and I put reptisafe in the water. They also get dr turtle which helps there shell. They get feeder fish and commercial food. They have a basking spot and they each have there own fake plant to hid in.

I have 3 hermit crabs. They have 4 inchs of sand, a heater, 3 dishs of water(2 fresh and 1 salt) and 4 sponges. They have a hut to hid in and they have 2 climbing toys. There tank is a 10 gallon.

Lastly I have a syrian hammy. Its my newest pet. It is in a 10 gallon. It has a hiddy house, a wheel, food dish, water bottle, toiet paper tube and a salt lick. I feed it walmart brand hammy food. It gets veggies as a treat everyonce in a while. I also give it 1 milkbone every 2 weeks. I hear it helps trim there teeth. I attacks me and doesnt want to be picked up so i let it run in the ball twice a week or so but it spends the rest of the time in its cage. I clean the cage once a week.

So do you think they are happy and what can i do to make there lifes happier?
my hemies have 6 spare shells!
my cat doesnt like cat toys and I am a HUGE animal lover. I am a voleenter at my local animal shelter and I am acually working at a festible for them tomarrow:) There is NO WAY I am getting rid of any of my babys so thats not a option!

We’re writting grants in my english class and I’m having trouble finding prices for the following items. Just give me the price and the website or place that you found it. None of these have ot be fancy.

1. An elevator. doesn’t have ot e fancy or anything. I just need the price of an elevator (ANY commercial elevator) that goes up 2 floors and one that goes 3.
2. A cash register. Just a plain cash register or anything that you would think would be nice to put in a museum.
3. a small theater system that has a projector, DVD hook up, and a stereo system. or each individually.
4. Price to build a navajo indian hogan
5. a navajo indian rug loom
6. I also need a price of any utilities such as propane, electricity, water, a/c and heater and any other utilities you might find in a builiding.

I know these are kind of hard and thats why I’m asking. It would really help if anyone could help me find just one of these (though all of them would be better : ) … ) Thanks!

We are in the county with well water and the water taste and smells fine so we have no filters in the system.

Somebody said a layer of oxide forms over the heater, thus the flame has to heat the oxide before getting to the water? My heater is 10 years old.
