I would like to install this kind of direct water heater:

In the basement, my nearest outside wall is 20 ft away, and after I get out of the outside wall, what kind of clearance do i have to have from any openings such as windows , doors etc.
The material I thought i am supposed to use is "636" in Canada. is that the right material? What advantages and disadvantages are there between chimeney vs. sidewall venting?
Thanks in advance!

You would have to check local codes to determine the clearances. Here in Chicago you need to be 3 feet away from doors and windows and 18 inches off the ground. The venting material to use is sched. 40 pvc, either 3 or 4 inch. check ins. instructions to determine proper size. The advantage of this type of heater is it is more energy efficient and it has electronic ignition instead of a standing pilot.
