I have a 5 gallon tank with heater and all and I have been setting it up for a siamese fighting fish (betta i think in america but I live in australia) All the siamese fighting fish I have looked at are all in cold water and look very cold and sick so I don’t want to purchase one. I know it sounds cruel but they should not be allowed to sell them in those conditions, so the less people buy them, the less demand, thus the reduction of animals being sold in commercial pet shops. I have been looking in proper aquarium websites but no luck. I saw some mollies that grow slightly smaller than the siamese fighting fish (5cm full grown adults) and I wanted to know if I can put two or three of them in the tank together, I have correct water conditions, heater, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH etc
They do grow only 5 cm, they are fully grown adults. I am not sure what species they are because I forgot to write it down but they are small breeds, they do not get any bigger than 5-6cm, I hear the rule is 1inch every gallon, so thats two mollies?, I have live plants but they do not take up much room
Thanks for the info guys, definatly not getting mollies then since my tank is small, I hear siamese fighting fish will do well so I am getting one from a proper breeder in about 6 weeks once my cycle has finished

and fish stix suck I am not arguing just asking for more information if you can read, and no I would not buy a fish if I knew I couldn’t live up to its needs so I don’t need your judgemental comments. not appreciated. but thanks for you information.

I installed a tank less LPG (Propane) water heater and am having issue with it. While taking a shower after the water is adjusted to the level I want it, while taking a shower the temp level will change to completely cold water!! Without me even adjusting the hot water handle to regulate it myself..why is that problem occuring? Is there an easy fix for it?

there be one element set slightly higher than the other.? Water when heated will rise to the top, and as it is drawn off, cold water replaces it at the bottom.

After plumber attached a Watts 4.5 gal. portable water expansion tank to my water heat the following condition developed. When I turn on the cold water in upstairs sink, which is located right above water heater which is ground level, the water flow starts off cool and then turns HOT for about 45 seconds and then goes back to cold running water. What gives? Seems like this problem started after he installed the expansion tank and it is only at this particular sink . All other sinks in house are normal. On this particular sink the hot is hot but the cold is as described above. Any ideas someone. The plumber was of no help in solving this problem. Thanks for reading this.

I just had a elec water heater installed, the cold water comes out of the faucet clear, while the hot water comes out looking milky…Is this normal?

I have an electric water heater, and it stopped producing hot water, only cold water comes out of my hot taps. Hubby presed the reset button, but it only heats the water for a short period of time and then it’s back to cold water again. What could be causing this, how can it be fixed, and is it something I or hubby can do ourselves? I was told that my heating elements (whatever those are) may need to be replaced. Could that be the reason for the cold water?

I hav a electric water heater. Very hot water was coming out of drain pipe continuosly. I turned off the pwer for one day and used all the hot water. But water is still running. now its cold water though but it did not stop untill i stopped main water supply. How can I fix it.
its a metal drain valve is near top of the water heater,with a pipe coming out of it and a lever on the side

My landlord recently replaced the electric water heater in my house. So I have a brand new 50-gallon electric water heater. However, my electric bill has not gone down in cost. The water heater is in the unheated basement and the water comes from a cold water well.

A timer is not really a good option since we use hot water at various times of night and day, and the temperature setting has already been reduced.

How do I purchase and install an insulation blanket for the hot water heater? Any tips for installation that I should know?

Say if I have a wood furnace I would like to route water through the furnace into the water heater, rather than cold water from the city, so that the water heater does not have to run as much to have hot water.

I might even have to run some water from the water heater back through the wood furnace so the hot water heater will not turn on after water cools from noone using it.

Will this work?
