How water heater question?

A family is trying to determine what hot water heater to install in their house. They have narrowed it down to a tank style that holds 50 gallons of water constantly heated, and an instant hot water heater that heats water on demand. Which is more efficient and why?

Can I add a point of use hot water heater inline with a tank hot water heater?

Basically, my kitchen is the furthest sink away from my water heater. It takes forever for the water to get warm, and then another couple of moments to get really hot. I’m concerned that I’m not getting hot water to the dishwasher, unless I run the hot water at the sink first, but then for the rinse cycle, it has luke water again, instead of the hot water… I was thinking of putting in either a point of use instant hot water heater, or a 2-3 gallon tank heater, just to provide hot water, and figured if it was a tank, it would replinish alot quicker because of the hot water coming into it after it it depleted.. Any idea’s or pro’s/con’s anybody can think of? Anybody tried it before?
