Has anyone experienced any problems with a Rheem or GE Smart Water natural gas hot water heater?

September 4th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Natural Gas Water Heater

Home Depot sells them as GE Smart Water units, but they are manufactured and serviced by Rheem Manufacturing. I should point out that the problem has been ongoing since it was installed less than a year ago. Rheem has sent a plumbing contractor out four times. Insufficient natural gas w.c. has been ruled out. Dip [...]

July 29th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Rinnai Water Heater

My plumber says the vent pipe for a Rinnai tankless water heater costs per foot, plus the cost of the labor to install it. It’s concentric vent pipe, with the exhaust gas in an inside pipe, and the intake air in the area between that inside pipe and the outside pipe. Does the per foot [...]

Should I upgrade to the tankless water heater or use a power vented storage type?

June 25th, 2010 · 4 Comments · On Demand Water Heater

I purchased a on demand Rennai 190k BTU on demand water heater this week. I was talking with a plumber friend of mine, and he said not to install it, but to go to a storage type power vented unit instead. He insisted that these on demand units are riddled with problems and issues, and [...]

The seller is going to replace the water heater. Will the plumber have to bring the heater instillation up to [...]
