What does thermal cut off mean as a feature of water heater tank storage?

    Your thermal cut of is a high temerature limit switch that cuts off the heat from the tank when the high temperature has been reached.

    This is a temperature switch used to turn off the electricity to the heater once it reaches the temperature setting that the control was set for. This is a common item on all electric domestic hot water heaters. Unless you want to make that heater into a steam propelled rocket, do not remove that controller, or wire around it so that it can not do it’s job.

    once the temp gets to a set point, it turns off the unit….some have a hi/lo setting to turn it on and off
