installed 4-8 hundred dollars. best to shop around and get 3to 5 quotes. home depot you can buy water plus have in installed for a lot cheaper than having private plumber do
it.because they will add time, parts, labor etc. i have dealt
with this .
In NYS (rural) an Electric 30 gallon installed is between $300 and $600 installed depending on how greedy of a contractor you use.
Natural gas or LP – 40 gallon are a little more $300 to $500 plus likely the same in labor, so $600 to $1000.
Oil 50 gallon is very costly $700 to $1300 for materials and the same for labor. Here again $1400 to $2600.
I get government neg. prices so it may cost more by a few $100 for you to have installed.
If you are financially challenged (aint we all) the government sometimes helps. In my area it is Community Action. Sometimes Dept. of Social Services and HEAP can help/ provide available resources.
If not I REALLY REALLY recommend a HOT-SHOT, heat on demand hot water system. There is no tank, no loss of heat through the tank, and it only works when it is being used. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE and that is reason enough to off-set any difference in costs. It may not pay off in months but will in the years to come.
Always remember that it is important to cover an electric heater with a blanket. Again SAVE, SAVE, SAVE. Appliances that use a combustable gas/liquid be sure to NEVER use blankets. They do burn.
We replaced our own but here when we asked a plumber he said probably in the ballpark of 600 bucks thats double what we paid to put it in, but you have to know what your doing, its not good to guess with gas .

Fuel used? and size of the tank.
